I imagine this: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/NicholasWe lls1 It's my new album. I spent about two years, working day and night, and pouring my entire self into it. I can hope that it will have "chart" recognition :)
My day-to-day doings never seem momentous enough to write about in here, so I ended up getting myself a twitter. Follow me!: https://twitter.com/NicholasGWells
I'll still be writing in here though!

I wrote a new song today! It was one of those things where I just didn't even try. I sat at my piano, and all of a sudden a song poured out of me. 5-10 minutes later it was done. No lyrics yet, but the music is all written. Those are always my favorite ones; the songs that just come out freely onto the piano within minutes.
Every time that I go for a while without writing a song, I start to wonder "hmm...am I all out?" haha. But, I am really happy with this one, and almost wish I had written it months ago so it could be included on the new album. When I finish the lyrics though, I'll be sure to start playing it live!

Ahh! I had quite a big scare these last couple of weeks. I was starting to record all of my final vocal tracks for the new album, when I noticed that my voice was extremely weak. Of course, it didn't help that a bunch of friends then came home for Columbus day weekend, and we all went out to loud bars/restaurants. My throat started to hurt the more I tried to sing or talk. I tried to rest my voice after that weekend, for about a week, but it still didn't get any better. I went to see a physician, who told me that I was not sick.
SO, of course after googling everything, I started reading about vocal polyps (which are known to develop on the vocal cords if they're overworked/abused, and permanently change the voice). I was flipping out for about a week as I waited for my appointment with an ear nose and throat doctor, thinking I may have ruined my voice or something.
LUCKILY, I went yesterday to that doctor, and he told me that while I had strained my voice, it wasn't anything permanent. (He even stuck a camera down my throat and had my vocal cords on a screen next to me!) Apparently now I've got to watch my diet though. The doctor said my stomach acid was causing a lot of the inflammation, and it could eventually cause serious vocal damage if I keep eating so much fried food/drinking so many carbonated beverages. I guess then this all explains why after a weekend of loud shouting, laughing, singing, and 3 nights in a row of buffalo wings and beer for dinner (which I can't exactly regret too much), my voice would hurt a bit.
But I've gotta watch my voice for the next couple weeks, and can't get to my vocal tracks till then! GAH! Bummer. Thankfully my voice will be just fine though. I'm so excited for when I can finally release the album!

So recently, I decided that I wanted to be able to post updates about my music and whatnot, so as to keep you all in the loop! I quickly decided that sending mass e-mails to the entire mailing list, every time I got excited about something, would most likely bug the crap out of a lot people. So, here I am with a livejournal - If you've got a livejournal too, send me a friend request!
